INVITATION TO ATTEND
It is my pleasure to invite you to Perth for the 41st Congress of the College. Each year we gather to explore new ideas, update our skills and knowledge and to enjoy the fellowship of our
colleagues. Increasing attendances at Congress show the value that Fellows and visitors are enjoying from this
annual event.
This year Nadine Caunt and her team have an exciting program planned which is sure to be one of the best events
ever.
I do hope that you will be able to join us for this, the major event in the College calendar for 2006.

CONVENOR’S INVITATION
On behalf of the Western Australian Congress Organising Committee I would like to invite you to the
41st Congress of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. The 2006 theme is "Emotional Compass: Navigating Wellbeing".
The program is rich with speakers who can address the issue of well being
and the development and maintenance of the emotional compass. It opens
itself to various sub-themes and the program will look at the theme through the lifespan and in it's varying axes through the continuation of streams including socio-cultural, consultation-liaison, forensic, child, older
adult, indigenous, addiction psychiatry and psychotherapy. A vibrant social program along with art, music and performance will also be woven through the Congress.
The theme is a fitting one for a city renowned for it's healthy and relaxed lifestyle and a state renowned for it's natural attractions and association with the sea.
The Perth Convention Centre is situated on the sparkling Swan River that winds it's way to the WA coast, renowned for it's pristine white beaches. It's central location make for ease of access to the city's attractions including the Perth Cultural Centre, restaurants and night spots. Why not jump on a ferry to the zoo or Rottnest Island; enjoy a short train ride to the upmarket suburban shopping precincts or sample the unique character of Fremantle, the port city.
We also hope you may be able to extend your stay and take in some of other WA attractions including the wine regions of the South West, the Goldfields or the spectacular Kimberley.
